Bookish Content Creaters

I'm almost positive I've replaced the television of my childhood with YouTube and podcasts; such is the way of the world I suppose.  When I'm in a terrible reading slump, I need inspiration, or I'm doing mind numbing chores and need some entertainment I love to turn on some book adjacent content.  I've found that it's perfect when you want to dive into the reading world but you don't have the brain capacity or ability to give your undivided to an audiobook or sit down and read.  I listen to podcasts on spotify and watch videos on YouTube.  These creators and accounts often post monthly TBRs, excellent book lists and recommendations, and participate in book challenges.  Here are some of my favorite bookish content creators!

Books With Brittany

MAIN PLATFORM: YouTube
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Fantasy, Romance, Contemporary Fiction, SciFi
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I started following Brittany when she read mostly high fantasy series.  She has since expanded her taste to romance and contemporary fiction which actually suits my tastes better as well.  Her TBR and monthly wrap up videos are her strong suits and she has a ton back-logged.  She recommends lots of lesser known novels.  I really enjoy her love of the library as well!

Elliot Brooks

MAIN PLATFORM: YouTube
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Fantasy, YA
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Elliot is the youtuber I feel like I would get along with the most in real life.  Her reviews are very thorough and she is extremely honest without being rude.  Some of my favorite videos of her are her ancillary series including UK and USA cover comparisons, if you like this book--then try this book, book trend discussions, and anticipated releases.

PeruseProject

MAIN PLATFORM: YouTube
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Cozy Mystery, YA
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Reagan, of PeruseProject, is one of the best BookTube channels out there.  She has a natural talent of speaking about books, reviewing them, and summarizing them.  Her vlogs include her everyday activities and reading life; they are the perfect video to watch while cooking or folding laundry.  Reagan's recommendation videos are also incredible. She has been on YouTube for years so her video library is strong!

World Hoppers

MAIN PLATFORM: YouTube
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Fantasy
OVERALL IMPRESSION: World Hoppers is a conglomerate of BookTubers that get together and make podcast style videos on different topics; the proceeds are then donated to charity.  This is a great way to find other Bookish Content Creators as well.  These videos are usually about an hour long and perfect for long car rides or mindless tasks--they will definitely make you laugh.

Currently Reading

MAIN PLATFORM: Spotify or Apple - Podcast
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Fantasy, Mystery, Contemporary, Middle Grade
OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is the only podcast/youtuber that I actually pay for the Patreon subscription.  I love the podcast itself--full of current reads and a bookish moment of the week each episode, but the real gem is the Facebook group.  It is only available with a $5 per month Patreon subscription, but the interaction on the group is well worth the money.  The page is extremely active and includes real life book exchanges, christmas activities, and meet ups.

What Should I Read Next

MAIN PLATFORM: Spotify or Apple - Podcast
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Contemporary, Historical Fiction, Classics
OVERALL IMPRESSION: The legendary book blogger, Anne Bogel, hosts What Should I Read Next and invites different viewers on the show each episode to answer the ever daunting task of picking your next read.  Bogel also publishes seasonal lists of books to check out for the next couple months.

In Bed With Books

MAIN PLATFORM: Spotify - Podcast
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Romance, Fantasy
OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is definitely a younger and more niche podcast, but one that I fell in love with right away.  The hosts, Bethany and Melissa, discuss spoiler filled buddy reads together that are perfect for after you finish each book.  They also talk about other romance themed topics and current reads.  If you like romantasy, this is the podcast for you!

UppercaseYA

MAIN PLATFORM: Instagram
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: Mostly YA, some adult
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I really enjoy following this account. There are lots of easy recommendations and anticipated releases.

Book of the Month (BOTM)

MAIN PLATFORM: Subscription Service, Instagram
READING RECOMMENDATION TYPES: All Types
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I am a Book of the Month girl through and through. The Instagram has lots of fun features including the monthly selections, add ons, and reading match ups.  BOTM often includes debut authors, series, fantasy, thriller, romance, contemporary fiction, and historical fiction.

I absolutely love these platforms.  These recommendations are based on what I listen to and watch on a daily basis.  They are my regulars, but I am always looking out for more channels and podcasts!
